Technology
I have come to notice recently how addicted people have become to their devices. Like phones, tablets, and things like that. I noticed this because I was like that. I was constantly thinking about other things, not where I was or what I was doing. I have recently moved a "dumb phone" and I like it a lot more. I feel like I am more connected to the world. Most of the things that are on these devices just are time wasters, ya they might be fun but think about what you can accomplish without these distractions. I see people walking ignoring all the great things around them. I think all these devices are doing are hurting us. Yes there are great benefits to them, but I think they do more harm then good. I will sit in a room watching television with friends and everyone will be on some kind of device. Company's say these things with bring us closer together and connect better, but I just see a lot of people becoming dependent on them, and loosing social skills. I also believe that these devices are not helping us to become smarter, I think they are just hurting us. I am not saying technology is even, I have just come to realize that we all could use a little less technology in our lives. People got along without before so I think we could now.

Lately
Lately my life has become super busy. It seems like lately all i do it just homework or work. But this brings me to my main point. You have to learn to enjoy the small things in life. I have always been told this, as well has read it. But recently I have come to really understand this. I have found that the best moments in my life are when I am simply just listening to music and walking to or from class. Or another one of the great parts of my days is when I am just thinking about life, and what I want out of it. I am grateful that I am at this point in my life where I can still choose the direction my life will go. Now I am not saying that you should just settle in life. But I am saying that you should realize the the simplest things in life can be the greatest. I watched a movie the other day called The Secret life of Walter Mitty. If you have not seen this show I HIGHLY recommend it. I have watched it three times this past week. It is a simple movie but has a great message. You have to be able to go after your dreams, and do what makes you happy.

New Semester
With the New Semester starting I love the feeling that comes with it. Most people are excited and optimistic. Almost like a feeling of euphoria. People carry around this feeling, and it spreads. It is also fascinating how many people I have met, and how many friendships I have formed in such a short period of time. I am so grateful for that. I am excited to move on from Snow College after this semester, but it was also bitter sweet. Because of what I stated previously. All the people that I wont see in the Summer and onto the Fall 2014 semester. I have also gained a lot of respect for other people. It seems to me that no matter where we at in life there is always someway we can move forward, always learn from everyday, and keep on the road to becoming a better person. I recently downloaded a widget on my phone called scripture a day. Its the nicest things i have done lately. It has helped me to start doing a better job at reading my scriptures. That is one of those things in life where it is easy to stop and hard to start. Maybe just for me. But it is prodigious to me the change the scriptures can make in anyone's life. Also just the Gospel in a general sense. Changes lives!
This might be a little off topic, but here are three books that WILL change your life, at least they have changed mine. The Book of Mormon, The Miracle of Forgiveness, and Jesus the Christ. I wish i had as much time as i did on my mission to read, but as I declared earlier I am trying to do a better job, of at least reading my scriptures.

Thoughts with the new year
With the new year coming this week, I just had some thoughts. My first thought is about Christmas. I really do like Christmas even though most people who know me would disagree. But I really do.I love how people become a lot more charitable, and think of others. I just don't like what Christmas has become. There is a lot more focus on buying gifts, and things like that. Even Christmas lights. Yes they look nice, but that is not the true purpose for Christmas. Its to celebrate our Savoir's birth. So lets always remember what he did for us.
My second thought is The New Year. One of the big things I love about the new year is that there is a sense of newness. New year and people wanting to do new things but too often we just fall into the same old routines. I think everyday we should try something new because you never know what you might find you like. A friend and I were talking earlier about how you find a lot of things you like to do by mistake. I know through roommates I have found so many new things I enjoy to do. This year I have discovered a lot of things I enjoy doing that I didn't necessarily do last year. So everyday we should all try new things because again you will never know if you like something unless you try it.
I also think we should all have goals. Some mission lessons you learn you should always use, and I believe that having goals is one of them. Some of my goals for the new year is to again eat better and get into better shape. Since I have lost weight I feel so much better mentally and physically, so I want to keep that up. I also want to be able to find a job and move to Logan. But I hope that everyone who reads this blog will make some kind of goals, and do their best to carry them out.

Being Thankful
Around this time every year I always reflect on my life and my situation. This past Sunday we our lesson was on Charity. It really made me think on how I could help people, how I could do something for someone. Its ironic also how it seems like every week for church we have a lesson or something is said that i have been thinking about before. If people would just show a little more charity in life, life would be a lot easier. As I looked around campus I really wanted to find ways to help people. This past couple of weeks. It snowed a couple of times. And the last thing kids want to do is scrape the snow off their cars. So in my apartment complex I scraped a couple of cars, and I hope they didn't find out who did it. I want them to see it, and hopefully they would do something nice for someone else. Another day I was walking home from work and I saw this girl pulled over to the side of the road and attempting to change a tire, with her lugnuts rusted on. I decided I should help. After doing so she told me that, about 10 people had walked past her and did nothing. I was glad that I was able to help. I guess the point I have really been contemplating is that we all have the same amount of time. Its just what we choose to do with that time, that matters. This brings me back to one of my other points, being Thankful. We all have so much to be thankful for. I would say that we have so much more to be thankful for than a lot of the world. We are told this all the time, but it really is true. This year I am Thankful for my family, for having the opportunity to go to school, and for all the adventures I get to have, and for being able to serve a mission, there are just some lessons you learn that you learn that you just can't explain or put into words. But its by your actions. So look for things to be Thankful for, and look for ways to help people. Because I really do believe in Karma, things always have a way of coming back to whether its good or bad.
Something else I want to talk about is being nice to people, now a lot of people think of being nice and smiling and telling someone something in a pleasant way. But that is not what I mean, When I say being nice, I mean legitimately caring enough about someone to except them for who they are, and want to be there friend, even if you don't get anything out of it. Its more of being straight forward with people. I believe that if your being "nice" to someone just to do it, that is pointless, you should be nice to people because its the Christlike thing to do. Because we all are learning, no matter how old we get.

Life right now
Life right now is pretty dang good! Even though not that many big things have changed, little things have. A lot that has changed is my attitude. In one of my class's we talked a lot about attitude, and how it can effect every aspect of your life. It really is true. My professor told us a story about a man who had a car accident and when he was talking to his wife about it. His wife asked him why he was in such a good mood after being in a car accident, "shouldn't you be upset?" He replied well I can have a broken car and be miserable or I can have a broken car and be happy, its my choice. Another great quote my Professor taught my class was that its all about reaction, how you react to things. That is what has helped me a lot is taking a minute to look at my situation and realizing that things are not even close to being bad. So that is my first thought for this post, that Attitude is everything.
I went on a date the other night and as part of our conversation we got talking about dating haha. We both came to the conclusion that you have to love yourself before you can love someone else. I can't explain how true this really is. There are so many people I see that want a significant other, but either don't have the self confidence to do so, or don't even love themselves. Yes we all have points in our lives where we aren't in the best moods but that cannot be all the time. Another point we brought up is Selfishness. That is the worst thing in this world. Yes we should be selfish about some things. But we all need to try and help more people. Life isn't really about making yourself happy, its about helping others to be happy.
I hope that whoever reads this doesn't think I am trying to tell people how to live their lives, because I probably make more mistakes in a day than most people. I just would like to share the little things that I have learned in these past months, that have helped me.
As a final thought remember that everything works out in the end and worrying about it isn't going to help, so you might as well make life as fun as possible.

Not too much has changed since my last post, but some things have. A lot of my thought process has changed and I have come to realize that there is only so much you can control in life. That you just have to learn to go with flow of things. Things will happen when they happen and yes its hard to be patient but the Lord has a plan for us, and you just have to learn to enjoy what is happening in your life in the present. I am excited for next semester and the things that will happen with that new classes, and new experiences. But some new things that are going on is I am going to be going to Mississippi in the Summer, and I might not come back, haha, no I will come back, but when I will have to figure out what I am going to do for the Summer. I will most likely be living in Logan but we will see what happens. It will be an awesome trip and a amazing way to start the summer. We are just about to let out for Thanksgiving break and I can't wait for it. It will be a nice break from school, and then the new year will be awesome too. I really do love this time of year. Its always a great chance to see who you can help. There is always someone who can use a little help.
